There are many reasons why the communities of North Texas are great places for families to live! The incredible public school districts are one of the top reasons! Of 937 public school districts in Texas, 5 of our area school districts are in the top 3%, making them the best of the best!!


Education ranking and review website Niche recently released their list of the top K-12 school districts in Texas for 2017. 937 Texas public school districts were graded on several key factors, including academics, culture & diversity, health & safety, teachers, resources & facilities, clubs & activities, and sports. The data for these factors came from the U.S. Department of Education as well as from reviews by millions of Niche users. Check out how these school districts came out on the top of the class!

2017 Economic Forecast


What to Expect:  


Mortgage rates will increase to a modest 4.5%, which is not dramatic enough to keep buyers out of the market.


Rents are expected to rise 4-5% across the board, and possibly higher in some areas.  Typically, a 5% increase in rent results in a renter to consider and/or convert to homeownership.


It is predicted that the new Administration will have looser legislation on lending and the economy, which could help boost buying power.


On the purchase side, offset by a stronger economy, household formations accelerating and rising wages will more than offset rising mortgage rates.


A slight increase in inventory is anticipated, as people decide to cash out their home’s equity for various purposes.


It is expected that more first-time home buyers will purchase this year, with many being millennial buyers looking for good school districts in suburban communities with lots of amenities.  Investment benefits will be a strong consideration of their purchase.


In comparison to many other large cities, the income required to buy a median priced home in our area, which is $55,000/year, isn’t much different than the national average at $52,000/year.  In fact, compared to places like San Francisco or New York, our housing market is extremely affordable.

Texas Recognized As Top State for Well-Being!

Homebuyers looking to relocate to a state that promotes happiness, health, and a strong sense of community should look no further than the great state of Texas! In a report released by Gallup-Healthways, which analyzed American well-being nationally and by each state, Texas was ranked the 10th best state for well-being in the country!


The Well-Being Index was determined through 177,192 telephone surveys that were conducted by Gallup throughout the year. Participants were given a scale of 0 to 100 to rank their well-being within the following 5 key areas:


  1. Purpose (sense of well-being with job and daily life)

  2. Social (sense of well-being in personal relationships)

  3. Financial (sense of economic well-being)

  4. Community (sense of well-being in the city/town you live)

  5. Physical (sense of physical well-being)


Texas came in at the #10 spot overall! AND, it was ranked #1 in the United States for its residents feeling a sense of purpose!

Top Reasons to Buy Your New Home This Month!

February might be better known for its cold weather, romantic holiday, and shorter calendar, but there is something else it should be known for…….a great month to buy a new home! It’s true! Research from shows that February is the ultimate time for buyers. Still not convinced? Check out 3 reasons why experts recommend purchasing your Dallas area home right now!

Interest Rates are Lower.

According to chief economist Jonathan Smoke, interest rates are expected to be half a percent more as the year progresses. This means buyers in the later months will be faced with mortgage rates of almost 5 percent. It makes sense to lock in the lower interest rate now.

Home Prices are Lower. collected home pricing data over the course of 2 years in 50 of the most populated markets in the United States. It showed that on average January and February home prices were 8.45% lower than those in July and August, the most popular homebuying months. Since the savings in home prices won’t be as large in 2017 as they have been in the past due to the strength of the market last year, it makes sense to take advantage of whatever savings are out there to get the best deal on a new home.

Competition is Lower.

Data shows that January home sales are 47% lower than they are in June. This number reflects that there is less competition amongst buyers. Buyers often enjoy the same amount of inventory on the market but have fewer fellow buyers to contend with. This often results in homes being sold for less than the listing price since sellers are more willing to negotiate.
